Tie-Dyed Bunny and Butterfly Marshmallows

Tie-Dye Bunny and Butterfly Homemade Marshmallows

Victoria over at the District Chocoholic issued a Pimp My Easter Basket Challenge. The idea was to be ridiculous with an Easter treat.

These tie-dyed marshmallows are definitely not as clever as her Road Kill Easter Bunny Bar Cookies. So funny.

In retrospect I am kicking myself for not going with bunny pimps and chick hos or psycho bunnies. I settled for psychedelic. These marshmallows are a little pimped just not twisted, but definitely something I would like in my Easter basket. I thought they came out a bit unusual and they definitely kick some Peeps butt in the looks department.

Tie-Dyed Bunny and Butterfly Marshmallows

My go to recipe for Marshmallows is THIS one from Piece of Cake. I followed her directions exactly but left out the bubblegum flavoring and used 1 full teaspoon of vanilla extract.

To color the marshmallows, I used Wilton’s gel food coloring (yellow, sky blue, pink and orange.) After I poured the marshmallows in a pan to set, I swirled in the colors with a toothpick.
When the marshmallows were ready I used bunny and butterfly cookies cutters to cut out the shapes.
It will be fun to try these again with different colors and flavors.

To make your own marshmallow and then to tie-dye it and make these butterflie and bunnies…you rock! Love the idea and love what you did.
