Welcome to Diary of a Mad Hausfrau.
An American married to a German national (Dr. B), life, love, and work took me from NYC to Los Angeles to Munich to Cologne to a small village on the German/Dutch border. After 10 years in Germany, the good doctor’s United Nations career relocated us back to NYC. A full circle journey.
I’m an Emmy-nominated television producer and a scuba diving/travel junkie who has visited over 65 countries. I have no formal culinary training but the kitchen is my happy place, baking is my therapy. I relish the exchange of ideas and creativity food blogging provides and I love producing food content whether it be recipes, videos or photographs.
I have created recipes for the Duncan Hines website, was the German Food Expert for About.com and a member of The Daily Meal’s Culinary Content Network. My creations have also been featured multiple times on popular sites such as People Magazine, PBS Parents, Buzzfeed, Cupcakes take the Cake, Rachel Ray Every Day, Disney’s Babble.com, ivillage, and Parade Magazine’s Community Table
One of my favorite things to do is participate in online baking charitable efforts. Among these are: Frosting for the Cause (Cancer), The Red Pump Project (HIV Awareness), Cook Red to Remember (HIV Awareness) Operation Cookie Takeover (Sending cookies to US soldiers stationed overseas), an online bake sale to benefit those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines and The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap which benefits kids with cancer.
I hope you find something delicious here to make or find inspiration from my colorful, sometimes offbeat, creations. There are lots of travel posts to explore here as well including exotic diving destinations and numerous European Christmas market reviews.
Thanks for stopping by!
XO,
Lora
